Not because Jacques Chirac far behind his Prime Minister will probably not indefinitely

It is now 15 days that Dominique de Villepin ensures that it is ready to "respond to the concerns" on PBS, and fifteen days and student organizations do not believe a second in its commitment to opening. He said he is ready to do everything on the table "without a priori" and managed to get the unions that they come to his table. And yet that is the impression of firmness that dominates, as if his appeals for dialogue were not quite sincere. And in fact, so far, the Prime Minister is in no way intended to give the feeling that it assigned the field. First because it is in his temper, he who believes in the value of the "Chief" enlightened "vision" for the France, and with the courage makes big men. He is convinced that the CPE is a "smart" tool in the fight against youth unemployment, and considers its duty to do everything to convince the country.

Message "despising".

But, beyond that, there is also the certainty that right opinion is favourable to the SCE, and refractory as never any decline in the street, that confirm the UMP Deputies unanimously. The CSA poll published Friday by "Le Parisien" the comfort in this sense: 56 of right-wing supporters are opposed to the withdrawal of the SCE, 35 are favourable. A one year presidential election, Dominique de Villepin is convinced that back would open a boulevard on the left. The problem is that with this belief the other considerations that have helped increase the gap with the anti-CPE mingle. There is first the rivalry with Nicolas Sarkozy for 2007, sufficiently heavy that Dominique de Villepin give the feeling of having a reading before any political events, play the right opinion before considering the concerns expressed by the left and unions. Close elected him elsewhere continue to distill a found message "contemptuous" by the anti-CPE: they minimize the magnitude of the events, emphasize that the Unef has lost votes in elections to the CROUS (read page 3), and betting on a "confessions" of violence and a shortness of the movement the holidays and end of year exams approach.

Problem of trust

Remains that, as time passes, more protests swell, more violence multiply, and less this position is tenable. Not because Jacques Chirac, far behind his Prime Minister, will probably not indefinitely. Since this weekend, Matignon seems interested in giving this time for real signs of dialogue, that trade unions help the Prime Minister to save face. The removal Act still unthinkable rest, but the assumptions previously taboo here, as another act which would be introduced amendments (on the duration of the test including period), or a second deliberation in remarks of the Constitutional Council, are now openly evoked by and villepinistes. But is it not too late A force that he has called for dialogue without really, unions now argue that they have a problem of "confidence" with the Prime Minister. And with to be arc-bouté on its legislation, Dominique de Villepin took the risk any change to appear as a retreat.
