It sought to represent a political alternative

The Japan, the hours of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) seem increasingly more scarce. According to surveys that follow and look, next Sunday's legislative election are likely to result in a defeat of political training, for the benefit of the left-wing opposition. Except last minute change of heart, the Japan could be a historic moment, because that, in most democracies, would only be a simple alternating, here would be the effect of a revolution. Sign that the culture of the consensus weighs on the behavior of voters, the opposition has advanced to the power that ten small months (in 1993-1994) over the past fifty-five years. This time, it is truly the supremacy of the LDP conservatives who could be questioned. Evidence that the archipelago was going through a turbulent period.

A record unemployment rate

Taro Aso, the current Prime Minister, focusing on his many critics. In fact, one which should give boost to the LDP when he took power, with his gab, his assumed nationalism and its tastes displayed for Japanese popular culture (manga, pop music), quickly lost his footing in public opinion, to collect only 20 percent of favourable opinions. Fault, of course, to the international crisis, which violently shook the world's second economy, whose dependence on exports proved be a handicap. Even if the Prime Minister is entrenching, last week, the return of growth in the second quarter, evil is done: unemployment is experiencing an unprecedented increase and already reached a level unprecedented since the second world war.

Yet, it would be too simple to blame only Taro Aso of opinion tilting in the polls. This would be forgetting the black series has known his party following the departure, in 2006, the charismatic Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. Since then, each fall saw the end of a Prime Minister. Shinzo Abe in 2007, Yasuo Fukuda in 2008. Taro Aso in 2009 No leader of the LDP has managed to stop this movement of distrust which has even resulted, in the polls, by the victory of the opposition in the upper House of Parliament, in 2007. Political humiliation for the LDP, but also a serious disability: since then, the Senate, controlled by the DPJ, is applied to put a spoke in the wheels of the LDP.

A political alternative

The opposition of the DPJ, on the other hand, is not merely to attract the disgruntled. It sought to represent a political alternative. In his first style: the DPJ for example grows many young candidates to the deputation to a LDP still too often subscribed to the old Lords of the policy. In his "offer" policy then, by advocating a gradual emancipation of the tutelage of Washington, on the diplomatic front, after decades of docile alignment. And economically, by displaying its commitment to support the weakest with strongest redistributions (family allowances, partial studies free, gasoline taxes reduction or abolition of tolls on the highway).

Paradoxically, the business community appear to be seduced by the left opposition, according to a survey by Reuters. Sign that, despite the issues that would raise a policy of public spending in a country already very indebted, is now the need for a change of direction that appears as the true priority.
