8 million euros for a consolidated sales of 2

Despite results in rising, the RATP has not escaped to the downturn of the economy last year. Operator public urban transport of travellers, which yesterday published its 2009 accounts, has certainly reached net profit share of the group by 29.4 increase over 2008, 182.8 million euros, for a consolidated sales of 2.7 to 4.43 billion, but the swelling of its benefits is exceptional revenues.

But, for the first time since 2003 in effect, the traffic of the public establishment with industrial and commercial nature (Epic), the perimeter of the parent, has reduced, by 0.8, 3,01 travel billion, which corresponds to a loss of 25 million trips. This decline in attendance took place while the RATP has strengthened its offer of transport in the Ile-de-France ( 1.6). It concerns especially the commuting on the suburban lines. Traffic grew on the subway of 0.5, but simultaneously decreased by 4.3 on the lines A and B of the RER, and 1 on those buses. Ultimately, turnover of the RATP still grew by 1.5, to EUR 4.13 billion.

In parallel, its subsidiaries have argued the turnover of the group. The RATP Dev, which includes activities abroad and France off historic perimeter, increased 41.7, to EUR 181 million, that pole Engineering (Systra, Xelis) increasing by 5.8 to 128.2 million. Total share of subsidiaries in the consolidated turnover increased by 1.1 point to 7.8.

The company, whose operating income current is stable at EUR 341,8 million, benefited from a capital gain of 70 million, consecutive end of transfer-rental equipment operations, initiated between 1997 and 2001. Excluding this exceptional item, its result net share of the Group would have actually declined 19.5 113,8 million.

The RATP group, which has overall rather made well last year, recorded in 2010 the first signs of an improvement in the Ile-de-France. While remaining prudent, his leadership evokes a "thrill". It refers to an increase in traffic of 2.5 for the first two months.

Two policy files

Recovery or not, the year already looks important to more than a title. Marriage between Transdev and Veolia Transport project, the group must retrieve a part of the assets of the new set, corresponds to the value of its stake in Transdev (25.6), which should lead to a tripling of the turnover of RATP Dev. Another strategic folder: the future of Systra. The State will have to decide between the resumption of the engineering company project defended by the SNCF, and the alternative schema now driven by the RATP, namely a divorce in due form (see below).

The group will remain as active investment, after reaching a new amount record last year (1.2 billion, 19 from 2008). He also yesterday announced a new 1,400 840 command project bus to cover its needs for the period 2011-2103. This program, whose cost is encrypted between 172 and 287 million euros, will enable to better accommodate persons with reduced mobility, these buses have a low floor. The equipment will be provided by Iveco, EvoBus (Group Daimler), EvoBus, and MAN.

Finally, Pierre Mongin, President of the RATP to recalled the "absolute obligation, for ensuring its sustainability, projecting out of Ile-de-France"...
